Wow. Is it really that time of year already? I feel like 2023 just flew by. Maybe because I’ve spent so much time reading good books. This week you get my favorite nonfics of the year and then in two weeks, I’ll share my fave fic and romance reads.

I’ve been a fan of BBT almost since the beginning. I think I started watching it during its second season in 2008 - on the recommendation of my mom no less. I’ve missed them since the show ended in 2019, so I was glad when this book came out and I could revisit all my TV friends.

As a person who some might term a “control-freak,” I’m always interested in finding ways to lighten up a little. I thought this book had a lot of food for thought that not only helped me let go, but also helped decrease my anxiety and worry. If this is something you struggle with, maybe this book would be helpful.

You know I’m always up for a good food book, and this one was no exception. My favorite part was the chapter on making fresh matzah. I never knew that to create true unleavened bread, bakers only have 18 minutes to make it happen. I want to try it out myself and see how I’d do.

I was expecting this book about a year on the North Sea to be more of a survival memoir instead of a book of beautiful essays. I never really had any desire to visit Denmark - until now. Of course, being a weather nerd, I also enjoyed all the stories about storms. Very good and very surprising read.

I first fell in love with Susan Casey when her surfing book, The Wave, came out. This book was all about traveling into the deepest trenches in the ocean. Personally, I could never physically do that (hello claustrophobia), but it was so interesting to read about.
