I hope you enjoyed my previous post about my fave nonfic reads of the year. Here now, for my final post of 2023, I offer you my favorite Fiction and Romance reads. Enjoy!
I am a big fan of Curtis Sittenfeld. I’ve read all of her books and wait with baited breath until the next one comes out. This one was no disappointment. Sally Milz is a comedy writer at an SNL-esque type show. When she falls for the weekly host, hijinks ensue. This is definitely my favorite of Sittenfeld’s books, and might be my favorite book of the year.
I read this Icelandic import before all the fun earthquake/volcano stuff started happening. The main character is a volcanologist and they are facing a big eruption as well. Thanks to this book, I feel like I have some idea of what is happening right now. ILL this bad boy and get caught up.
I found out about this title from The 3 Books podcast with Neil Pasricha. He had the author on and they made it sound so interesting, I just had to check it out. It’s a little more scifi than I usually pick, but parts of it blew my mind. If you are looking for something different, stop right here and read.
I love Ali Hazelwood because she writes about smart people doing smart things, which is one of my jams. Oh, and they get to fall in love too. What’s a girl to do when she can’t pay the bills by working as an assistant professor? That’s right, she hires out as a fake girlfriend. Too bad the older brother of her favorite client is also on her tenure board. And cue fireworks.
Ghostwriter Chandler Cohen is about to start her next writing project. Unfortunately, it turns out her client is also her latest one night stand, and he was not the Casanova he imagined himself to be. So Chandler offers to tutor him on the finer points of satisfaction. What could go wrong?
Olive is always the unlucky twin. Except at her sister’s wedding when she does not partake in the seafood buffet and therefore avoids the mass food poisoning that consumes her whole family. The only other person who escaped unscathed was best man, and sworn enemy, Ethan, who ends up joining her on her sister’s fabulous, nonrefundable, honeymoon. Sounds like fun, am I right? The library also has the sequel: The Honeymoon Crashers, so this is a twofer.
So those are my best pics of the year. I hope you and yours have a safe and happy New Year.
See you next year!
Happy reading…
:) Amanda
